Amanda Grigg was first appointed to a Physical Health Advisor role with Sport Canterbury's Green Prescription team in 2009.
Amanda has served as local support advisor for several of the district councils within Christchurch, while also serving the activity needs of North Canterbury and Hurunui residents.
Her key responsibilities are: supporting individuals to engage in lifelong physical activity for wellness; delivering eight-week 'Be Active' programmes; and providing physical activity leadership and relevant resources for Canterbury communities.
She believes that time is a valuable commodity for most people, and that it is important to make the most of opportunities to be active.
Amanda emphasises the importance of flexibility, variety and enjoyment - factors that influence her own active interests. She says that she often finds herself trying new activities, including two marathons. 'Mind over matter' is her motto.
Amanda has an extensive nursing background and is also involved with several rural and community-related activities in support of her husband and young family.
