Michael De Bono
Sport Canterbury’s Community Coaching Advisor Michael De Bono provides support for Regional Sporting Organisations (RSOs), sports clubs and schools, across the Greater Canterbury and West Coast region.
Michael is responsible for organising courses for club coaches, supporting RSOs with staff development initiatives, helping clubs deliver coaching plans and coach mentoring opportunities.
His sporting experience comes from all levels of football, having held positions at club, regional and national levels. With a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Coaching from the University of Canterbury and a Diploma in Sport Science from the University of Otago, Michael also holds a number of coaching and coach educator qualifications from New Zealand Football.
The experienced footballer and recent Ironman is passionate about supporting the development of coaches and enablers across all sporting codes.
