Zara Taylor

Zara Taylor joined Sport Canterbury’s Community Sport team in January 2016.

She was previously part of Sport Canterbury’s Physical Activity team, with responsibility for the Burwood Pegasus ward. Her role involved delivering eight-week 'Be Active' programmes, and providing physical activity leadership and relevant resources for Canterbury communities.

At present, as Community Sport Advisor, Zara is part of a team promoting lifelong participation in sport and recreation as well as providing support, leadership and advocacy to schools and sports clubs and is currently supporting Aranui, New Brighton and Parklands communities.

In August 2016, Zara joined the Board of Directors of Parafed Canterbury; she was previously on the Board for Parafed Otago, and was an active volunteer for their adaptive snow sports programme.

Zara is originally from Te Anau and completed her Bachelors and Masters of Physical Education at Otago University. Her Masters looked at the effects exercise has on cardiovascular health in breast cancer survivors. Zara is currently studying toward a Masters in management through Massey University. Zara enjoys coaching netball and in her own time enjoys running, mountain biking and plays netball and basketball.
