2020 UC Education Mud Run - Update

The UC Education Mud Run is a unique Canterbury event that has engaged over 7,500 secondary school students since 2011.

Each year, in partnership with UC Education, we have enjoyed offering students at all levels of ability the chance to set a goal, have a go and enjoy a sense of achievement.

We are incredibly grateful to all of the School Sports Coordinators across Canterbury, as well as our generous event partners, for keeping this event on the calendar every year - as a source of fun and motivation for our rangatahi.

In 2020, it has been an incredibly difficult decision for our team to cancel the UC Education Mud Run for Secondary Schools, scheduled for June and now unable to proceed due to the uncertainty impacting events as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have updated school parents and students of this change, and we also pass on our appreciation, for the way each school community has supported this event each year.

About the Event

The UC Education Secondary Schools Mud Run offers secondary school students the opportunity to be involved in a unique event that promotes participation, teamwork and fun, whilst being active.

Teams of up to four complete the 5km off-road obstacle course together. Taking on mud pits, slides, hurdles and tyre towers. It’s a fun run like no other.

This event was established after the Christchurch earthquakes in an environment where many of the sports grounds and clubs were closed, providing a physical activity opportunity that is inclusive of all abilities and fitness levels.
