Many Canterbury secondary school students are taking part in their first ever UC Education Mud Run this year - including St Andrews College students Maddie Bisphan, Briar Macdonald and Amelie Coggan.

Maddie, a keen football and futsal player, is looking forward to "the mud - just getting in there and doing it!"

Briar and Amelie both enjoy volleyball and netball, so this event may take them off the courts and out of their comfort zone.

"We saw the video and thought it looked cool," Amelie says. Briar adds that the fancy dress aspect added to their team's motivation.

Gates open: 10:45am

Registration time: 11am – midday

Fancy dress parade: 12:15pm

Race briefing (compulsory): 12:45pm

Start time: 1pm

Cost: $25 each
