Canterbury Sportswoman of the Year is an Award that comes with a story – of quietly breaking down barriers in a world where women are often the curtain raisers.
When Canterbury Women’s Rugby stole the Sports Awards limelight last year, five Christchurch investment advisers identified with their achievements.
Those five women investment advisers from the Christchurch office of Craigs Investment Partners appreciated how difficult it can be for women to stand out in a male dominated world.
The firm is proud to stand behind the ORIX NZ 2019 Canterbury Sportswoman of the Year Award.
“It is exciting to have found such a good match,” says Sport Canterbury Chief Executive Julyan Falloon, referring to the sponsorship by Craigs of the evening’s most anticipated category.
With Craigs at the top of their game, much like Canterbury Rugby, it’s impossible to ignore the women on the wing – or calling the lineouts.
“This year Sport NZ made a commitment to opportunities for women in sport – on and off the field,” Falloon adds. “We have seen opportunities for women athletes and administrators grow and grow. Sports and families are winning at the same time.”
The women who represent Craigs Investment Partners acknowledge they are the faces of change in their field. This fuels their motivation to be the best they can be, striving for excellence - with their clients the first and foremost priority.
“We take a holistic approach to wealth management,” Sara O’Connor explains. “At the beginning of the year, it’s very common to set goals around wellbeing. Money is one of those goals as well. We are committed to helping people overall, rather than just with their investment portfolio.”
Craigs cares a great deal about providing an environment where clients feel comfortable. We provide a place where anyone can seek advice and gain knowledge.
In May, Craigs hosts an inaugural Women’s Wealth and Health Seminar, bringing together like-minded people and encouraging questions from the attendees.
The series features financial insights alongside experts on women’s health, nutrition and well being.
“We are advocates for women who care about their future.”
O’Connor has confidence in the service Craigs offers to people of all ages and motivations, both men and women. When you walk in the door, at Craigs Investment Partners the welcome is unconditional.
“We work with our clients to help them achieve their goals, and it is not by chance that ‘partner’ features in our name.”
